Please join Detroit Sound Conservancy (DSC) at our annual community BBQ for an afternoon of music, joy and celebration!
The event will take place on Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 2-5pm outside the Blue Bird Inn, located at 5021 Tireman Avenue, Detroit, MI.
RSVP and More info: DSCBBQ.eventbrite.com
The free community event will be an opportunity to gather and celebrate with live music and delicious BBQ provided by The Cardinal Foundation. The Cardinal Foundation, run by Ron Cannon, operates a weekly food distribution program in the Midwest Tireman Neighborhood , serving healthy and complete meals to homebound seniors.
The celebration will feature music from two of Detroit’s finest Gardners! Live music will be supplied by Tariq Gardner’s Evening Star which has its roots in Detroit’s expansive musical tradition blending the city’s rich Jazz legacy with its history of musicians being largely malleable to fit into a wide array of musical styles traveling to the different galaxies of music of the African Diaspora (jazz, neo-soul, Afro-Cuban, spirituals, hip-hop etc.).
DSC Treasurer and Boardmember and renowned DJ Donna Gardner will be spinning records throughout the afternoon!
The event is free and open to the public – donations to the building project are welcomed and can be made at detroitsound.org/give/
